Tricia Ziemer reskilled starting with her local community house to move from the Computer Industry to becoming a TV Producer with Channel 31. Her original background was Software Developpment, Training and Management working at HP, Computer Power Software and other IT Companies. In her last role, she managed 4 divisions at TUSC Commputers before chosing to stay home with new babies, including External Support Services to Telstra, Internal Computer Management Systems - Quality Management Systems, Human Resources and Financial Controll as well as sitting on the Board. With new babies, this just became too much...But as she sat home, and as much as she enjoyed every moment of motherhood, she got bored. And then a little flyer arrived in her mail box from the Vermont Community House just around the corner from her. She started with Margaret Banks as a Computer Tutor teaching in MYOB, and Adobe Software packages. She joined their Board as Treasurer, then Vice President and then President. As President Yvonne Rice at VSCH, said she had to go on Radio to talk about the VSCH where she met Peter McArthur. Peter McArthur was Producer of Eastern Newsbeat then President of Channel 31...Thus a whole new world of oppurtunites opened up as Peter invited her to join ERA-TV. Having always been a proffessional photographer, this triggered Tricia's creativty in ways she never expected and thus her journey began. Channel 31 seemed to see somthing as well after she starting producing her first show Kids in the Kitchen with Gabriel Gate...they put her on a half paid scholorship course in TV Production at Open Channel. All because of her local community house.... And she wanted to give back. She started doing segments about Community Houses within Eastern Newsbeat and has featured dozens over the years in that show and on Radio Eastern 98.1 including, Glen Park, The Basin, Coonara, Vermont South, Upper Yarra, Alemmain, Rowville, Clota, Box Hill, Waverley, actually so many over the last 4 years she actual admits she cannot remember them all.....But she had a bigger vision. She wanted a show JUST ABOUT COMMUNITY HOUSES and what brillant training and reskilling hubs they were, not just craft centres. An untold story and these hidden gems...just around the corner from you. This show is her vision to give back to that sector that has helped her become what she is today. She discussed her idea with Leanne Fitzgerald, Manager of Coonara Community House who had the vision, drive and ability to put together a Partnership. Leanne, now Executive Producer, invited Tricia to present her idea at a Conference at Marysville Cumberland over three years ago. Then Leanne forged a partnership with several other groups in the Knox area, with Tricia training up the Media Crew, film, lighting, reporters, etc.
And then Leanne landed a partnership with Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) and the show has been accepted at a 13 part series going to air in Spring of 2011 and continuing in March 2012. Slowly Tricia has put together a talented team of professionals with who she could not do the show including Nicole Kirkwood Assitant Producer, Film/Editing/Rporting Crew including Michelle Tohill, Loz Blain, Adam Dyson, Steve Prichard, Dave Abbott, Deb Whitehead and Karen George working on the wiki space where you can see all the reruns at
